  • Sunrise in running for City Livability Award

    The U.S. Conference of Mayors has named the City of Sunrise a second round finalist for the 2012 City Livability Award. The award, which was founded in 1979, is given to 10 mayors and their cities, and Sunrise is one of the 15 top finalists.

  • Have fun and learn something on Earth Day in Sunrise

    The 4th annual Earth Day Festival will take place at Sawgrass Sanctuary Park on April 14 from 10 am-4 pm. This free event is presented by the City of Sunrise Utilities Department and All Service Refuse. The first 1000 people through the gates receive a free water bottle.

  • Take part in the South Florida Success Expo

    The South Florida Success Expo 2012 will take place at the Signature Grand in Davie on March 15 from 12-9 pm. The Expo is a presentation of various South Florida chambers of commerce including the Broward County Chamber of Commerce. Over 300 exhibitors are expected to take part.

  • Have fun with your pooch at Woofstock

    The 2nd annual Woofstock will take place at the Sawgrass Sanctuary on February 4 from 10 am-4 pm. This free event is sponsored by the City of Sunrise Leisure Services Department. Doggie treat bags will be handed out to the first 500 admitted.

  • Experience Jamaica with the photographs of David I. Muir

    The exhibit Pieces of Jamaica is showing at the Sunrise Civic Center Art Gallery from January 6-February 25, 2012. The exhibit features the Jamaican photographs of David I. Muir. A grand opening and reception will take place on Friday, January 6 from 6:15-8:30 pm. Admission is free. The gallery is normally open Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10 am-5:pm and Wednesdays and Thursdays from noon-7 pm.

  • Visit the Woodstock Arts and Crafts Festival

    The 2011 Woodstock Arts and Crafts Festival will be held the weekend of December 3-4 at Welleby Park in Sunrise; this yearly event has been held since 1980. The festival will run from 9 am-5 pm on Saturday and from 9 am-4pm on Sunday; admission is $5 or 6 cans of food for the local food bank, children under 12 are admitted free. The festival is almost completely run by volunteers and all profits go to local charities.
